Experience of the Sherpa culture, lifestyle and tradition of the Khumbu Valley and exploration of monasteries representing Himalayan Buddhism.

Everest Monasteries trek offers an outstanding culture of Highland Sherpas, lifestyle and incredible hospitable environment. This trip intent on exploring the local culture, tradition, as well as monastic life of the Himalayan Buddhism. During this trek, you will visit the beautiful hamlet at Thame that exhibits the unique Sherpa culture and monasteries then to the Phortse, Khumjung, Namche, Tengboche and all these places are renowned for the welcoming nature of Sherpas and their culture. The trek takes you to the highest point at Pangboche where oldest and unspoiled monastery lies. Along the trail, you will also grasps the splendid view of Kantega, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse and Mt Everest rearing above.

Day 01 Arrive Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Dinner)

On your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport, one of our representative will pick up you and escort you to the hotel as well as help you to check-in at hotel. After your refreshment, you will be briefed about the next day trip. In the evening, we, the Hiking Nepal will offer you a welcome dinner introducing Nepalese cuisine and culture.


Day 02 Cultural Tour of Kathmandu City (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Breakfast)

After your delightful breakfast, you will be introduced with guide and takes you to UNESCO Heritages sites of the valley where you will observe living heritage of Medieval Nepal - Witness the biggest Hindu temple of Nepal, Pashupatinath and capture the sacred moments of Hindu death ritual at Aryaghat in Pashupatinath. Stroll the lively streets of Kathmandu Old Market Asan to Kathmandu Durbar Square and visit the home of The Living Goddess Kumari, Nepalese style of Architecture as well as astonishing wooden carving. A short drive from Kathmandu Durbar Square will take you to a hill top stupa called as “Swyambhu” meaning “self -emerge” and belief that the hill emerged impulsively from the great lake that once covered Kathmandu valley.


Day 03 Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (Altitude: 2840/ 9372 ft. Phakding: 2610 m/8613 ft. Flight: 30 minutes Trek: 3/4 hrs. Meal: BLD)

On a clear bright morning, you will fly over the snowcapped mountains to one of the most electrifying high altitude airports, Lukla at an altitude 2900 m. Your guides and porters will accompany you here for the trek. Hence, the trekking adventure kicks off. Beginning the trek, you will slide down almost 500 meters to Dudh Koshi River. Then, the trek winds along the trial beside the River towards Phakding. Passing several mani-walls and boulders engraved with Buddhist prayers, you will arrive at Phakding where you will spend your first night of your trek.


Day 04 Trek to Namche (Altitude; 3440 m/11352 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

The trek chases the northern trial up the Dudh Kosi valley to Monjo. At Monjo the trek officially enters Sagarmatha National Park where you have to issue Sagarmatha National Park Permit Card. Continuing the trial along the steep uphill climb while savoring the first glimpse of Everest, you will arrive at the hub of Sherpa- Namche Bazaar.


Day 05 Trek to Thame (Altitude: 3800 m/12540 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will hike down crossing several villages settled by the traditional Sherpas. The trail carries beautiful Gompa, Chortains and even it is the land of famous climbers- Tenzing Norkey (first climber to summit Mt. Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary) Apa Sherpa, who climb Mt. Everest for 21 times. Once you enter the valley, you can visit the oldest Gompa of Khumbu valley where the festival Mani Rimdhu is held. You can see the fascinating views of mountains- Thamserku, Kantenga, Kusum Kangguru, kongde


Day 06 Trek to Phortse via Khumjung (Altitude: Phortse: 3810 m/ 12570 ft. Khumjung: 3780 m/12475 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will climb the Khumjung hill and descend to the east of the village down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Koshi from where the route turns north. Treading to the ridge top that stretches down from Mt. Khumbila, which is manifested by a beautiful “Chorten”, you will begin to explore Mohang. It is the birth place of the reincarnated revered monk of Rongbuk Monastery of Tibet, who has flourish Tibetan Buddhism in Khumbu and neighboring regions.  Beyond, Mohang, you will slide down along the series sheer switchbacks on sandy slope to Dush Koshi Riverbed. Phortse is a small village that lies at the riverside.


Day 07 Trek to Tangboche (3860 m) via Pangboche (3930 m) (Altitude: Pangboche: 3930 m/ 12970 ft. Tengboche: 3860 m/12738 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Passing through field, a streams and a big Chortens, you will reach at Pangboche. The trails you follow will be ups and down enjoying interesting views of the Himalayas, and hospitable Sherpas. It will takes couple of hour to reach Pangboche, where you will explore an oldest monastery of Khumbu valley believed to be built on 1667. After lunch, you will descend to another interesting place- Tengboche. On the way, you can grasp the fabulous views of the mountains and the trail decorated with rhododendron bushes even making more interesting with the presence of beautiful birds.  On reaching Tengboche, you will explore a largest monastery of Khumbu from where the Everest Expedition teams receives blessings. The most interesting festival “The Manirimdhu” is held here with great devotion during the month of October/November.


Day 08 Trek to Namche (Altitude; 3440 m/11352 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will walk down crossing the bridge over the Dudh Koshi at Phunkiu Tenga. Here, you can explore a water driven prayer wheel. Then, you will make your journey to Namche where you will take time for refreshment and stay overnight.


Day 09 Trek to Lukla (Altitude: 2840/ 9372 ft. Trek: 4/5 hrs. Meal: BLD)

It will be a final day at Everest, just walking downhill towards Lukla following Dudh Koshi River. To celebrate your trip and last evening in the Himalayas, you can organize a farewell party with the involvement of Shrepa, guide and porters. You can even taste local beer called as “Chang” and learn some dancing steps of Sherpas.


Day 10 Fly to Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Flight: 30 minutes Meal: B/D)

You will board a plane back to Kathmandu. Arriving at Kathmandu you will be transferred to your hotel and rest of the day will be your leisure time. You can go for shopping, message, or rest at Hotel. Evening time, we invite you for farewell dinner at authentic restaurant. You can share your experience, feedback us and give us a chance to make your evening a wonderful time. Overnight at Hotel.

We have prepared the trip departure dates in small groups departure for group fun and enjoyment trekking. Our group size start from 2 peoples (Even for solo travelers, we organize single trip on supplement cost of US$- 200 additional) and maximum group size will be 8-10 travelers. Group Size:
For group, we normally run with minimum 2 person to maximum 10 in our published group departure program. However, there is no barrier for a private trip. We can run a trip for single person and even more than 10 in a group. Normally for a group, we provide 1 main guide, 1 assistance guide along with 1 porter for every 2 trekkers. Moreover, for every additional 2 trekkers, 1 more assistance and a porter will be provided making a team combination as follows:

Minimum to 2 PAX: 1 Guide and 1 porter
4-6 PAX: 1 guide, 1 assistance guide and 3 porter
7-10 PAX: 1 guide, 2 assistance guide and 4/5 Porter

Guide and Trip Safety
Once, you confirm your trip, it is our responsibility to make your trip wonderful without creating any difficulties. Hence, we have prepared our itinerary in such a way that it will properly acclimatize you. Also, we request you in advance to have regular exercises and make habits to walk in a daily basis. Similarly, during trek, you will be fully guided by our professional trekking guides and supporting team. They are properly trained in regards to safety and first aid. Even, we have every set up in case of emergency such as high altitude medicine and Gammow Bag (High altitude Chamber bag). Please note High altitude Chamber Bag is used to provide heat in your body and it is available on certain cost. Moreover, to let you familiar with altitude, you are suggested to walk slow and steady and ensure for proper acclimatization.

For trekking, we provide local experienced guide speaking fluent English and familiar with the local routes, landscape, flora, fauna as well as culture, and tradition of certain areas and let you feel comfortable. We do not encourage for child labor, hence, our porter will be above 16 years that are living in the Himalayas of Nepal; as well as carries only 20-22 kg weight per porter. Normally, the guide and support teams are selected with proper analyzing of their experience, leadership skills and personal aptitude. Our guides are well familiar with different societies of all caste and customs along the trail and share the insight culture with you that are not even noted in guide book.

To make our staffs more fluent and experienced, we consistently provide trainings. They have been participating in special training programs like Trekking guide training, Rock climbing, Ice climbing, Intensive Wilderness first Aid and many more that has been certified and approved by Nepal Government.

Travel Insurance
While travelling to Nepal, you are requested to have a travel insurance that should cover any comprehensive expenses possible to acquire due to medical issues or accidents. Especially, your travel insurance must protect air ambulance, treatment charges, rescue and evacuation, product cancellation and refundable charges, flight delay and cancellations. We suggest you to bring you travel insurance certificate or send us scan copy and required to issue from your home land and we do not arrange or sell insurance.

Travelling in the Himalayas is full of adventurous; hence it is wise to choose a proper insurance policy. While choosing your insurance policy, make sure that it will protect all such unforeseen expenses. Your insurer should be well familiar with our itinerary that you have booked and must have agreed to cover all activities being undertaken during trip. Meantime, it is not compulsory that our all the assigned trip are facilities with Heli-rescue. You will not require heli rescue insurance for Tibet Tour as it is not possible to provide such facility.

Vaccination
It is better to follow the precaution given by World Health Organization and other international health related institutions that recommend having vaccines before travelling Nepal to prevent from certain fatal illness. If possible, we suggest you to bring your medical certificate however, it is not required to show but for safety. The recommended vaccines are polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, typhoid, yellow fever, hepatitis A/B, Influenza (Flu), Japanese encephalitis, and Tuberculosis. Meantime, it is better to consult your professional doctor about your travel and he might recommend you properly. You can also take suggestion of local travelers who have travelled Nepal before and know more about the required precautions. Please note that the protection that can be gained from vaccines varies from 50% to almost 100%. So remember that even if you have taken a vaccine you might still get the disease, although you will have greatly reduced your chances of getting ill.

High Altitude Sickness
At the higher altitude, you will feel a decrease in availability of oxygen. If a person walk in the high altitude particularly climbs up too quickly, he might suffer from High altitude sickness. Hence, proper rest is required at that altitude. You can cure at right time knowing certain symptoms of Altitude Sickness. Common symptoms are headache, loss of appetite, tiredness and nausea, vomiting, dizziness and difficulty in sleeping. The best remedies that local belief and take is taking garlic, or ginger in mouth. Eat dry food and take liquid as much as possible. We recommend Diamox if there is no any options.

Also, we provide experienced guide and staffs in dealing with the effects of higher altitudes. As they are natives of Nepal, they easily acclimatize and therefore can care for their clients. They are equipped with necessary medical supplies and will assist with basic first aid treatment. We design our tours to ensure clients are ready for high altitude, and arrange alternative itineraries for those at risk.

While travelling to a destination, there might occurs a series of questions, such as what should I bring, level of fitness, insurance, security, right time, visa procedure etc. Hence, to solve with such queries, here is prepared list with feasible answers.

Also, it is better to build a habits of hiking for 3 to 6 hours once a week and use stairs ups and down to make your knees strong and comfortable to walk in the Rocky Mountains. The Himalayas of Nepal is you trek in the remote site. However, most of the trekking destination are facilitated with the available of accommodating ranging from very basic to highly sophisticated. As you go up, the accommodation will be basic but neat and clean beds with comfortable mattress. Beds are quite small and shared bathroom (some lodges also offer attached bathroom). There is chimney heater in the dining hall where tables are set around to sit nearby heater. We provide clean and comfortable room with attached bathroom at the places where it is available. For meals, you will be served sufficient hygienic food. Our service includes a full board meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Tea/Coffee) based on lodge menu. Normally, for breakfast; porridge, cereals, toast or chapattis, omelets and a range of hot drinks are served. Likewise for Lunch and Dinner; you can taste some Nepalese food (esp. rice, lentils and curry), local food, Indian food, Italian Spaghetti, noodles, potatoes, even Pizza in some areas. It is obvious that you will receive fresh and organic food in the Himalayas of Nepal. Your breakfast and dinner will be served in lodge where you stay and lunch on the way during trek.

For trekking in Nepal, you will be guided by locally trained licensed holder trekking guide who are involved in trekking for many years and used to with the trail, local culture and surrounding. They speak good English and make you feel comfortable while trekking.

While trekking in high altitude, headache and diarrhea is common sickness and our guide will take some prescribed medicine. But for the serious illness and other factor, they are not authorized to take the medicine. But help to take you to the hospital or evacuated back to Kathmandu. Also, you can bring Diamox or other medicine after consulting with your doctor or general physician.

For trekking in Nepal, usually two season are considered best (i.e. Spring: March, April, May and Autumn: September, October, November). During spring time, temperature is mildly warm in low lands while moderate in higher altitudes with plenty of opportunities to have astonishing views of the mountains and landscape. At this time, the blossom flowers especially national flower of Nepal – rhododendron decorate the ascending altitudes with its generous color and beauty. Even the High altitude lodges get opened and get occupied with the mountain lovers. Autumn (September, October and November): This time is considered to be the best tourist season in Nepal with the end of summer and the winter to set in. The weather is highly pleasant so are the mountain views. The trekking routes get beautified with the presence of trekkers and expedition groups. Meantime, most of the festivals of Nepalese societies are enthusiastically celebrated at this time.
