Khopra Valley Trek takes you in the intact world to explore typical lifestyle and culture, beautiful villages, along with stunning view of Himalayas on mesmerizing sound from the deepest gorge the Kaligandaki.

Khopra Valley trek is a soft to moderate type of trek that takes you to a beautiful village Khopra, located away from the busy trail of Annapurna region. The trail fascinates the stunning view of Mt. Dhauligiri, Annapurna South, and Nilgiri. Passing some dense forest of Rhododendron, beautiful terraced fields and breathtaking landscape, you will enter in the remote trail and stay in tea-houses run by local community. Kaire Lake, is main attraction of this trip will require you to walk for some time. It is a holy land for the mountain dwellers who visit here every year in a certain festivals.

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Dinner)

On your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport, one of our representative will pick up you and escort you to the hotel as well as help you to check-in at hotel. After your refreshment, you will be briefed about the next day trip. In the evening, we, the Hiking Nepal will offer you a welcome dinner introducing Nepalese cuisine and culture.


Day 02 Drive to Pokhara in a Tourist Bus, transfer to Hotel (Altitude: 820 m/2705 Drive: 5-6 hrs. Meal: Breakfast)

Early morning, after breakfast, catch Tourist bus or we can also organize a private vehicle for you. Viewing countryside villages, farm, shops and river, you will reach at Pokhara. A beautiful place with tremendous views of mountains and lakes. You can also go for Boating at Fewa Lake. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 3: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk (Altitude: 1940m/6360 ft. Drive: 1 and half hrs. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Check-out hotel in the morning after breakfast to transfer to the trek point Nayapul. Your trek will starts with a short hike in an easy trail. You will cross a suspension bridge and a stream following the Modi River you will reach Birethanti. You are required to show trekking permits at the Annapurna Conservation Check Post. From Birethanti, you will trek to Ghandruk, a beautiful village mostly inhabited by the Gurung community. Overnight at local lodge.


Day 4: Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani (Altitude: 2,600m/8528 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Wake up with the stunning sunrise views over the Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. After breakfast, you will continue to walk uphill through Daurali passing dense rhododendron and oak forest. You will walk in the forest trail most of the time and totally avoid villages in between however offer few Tea houses at Bhaisi Kharka with place for rest. Following the narrow passes, you will reach at Tadapani. It a perfect setting for sunrise and sunset views.


Day 5: Trek from Tadapani to Bayli Kharka (Altitude: 3420m/ 11285 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will avoid the regular trail that leads to Ghorepani following the thick rhododendron forest trail. You will see the local water buffalo pastures. Then, starts climbing up to a ridge above the tree line viewing the fantastic scenario of Annapurna range. Gradually, starts walking following small stream to the open countryside that lead you to small pass. Then onwards, you will slowly descend through the rhododendron trail to an open area Bayli Kharka offers manifesting views of Mt. Dhauligiri. Spend overnight at local lodge.


Day 6: Trek from Bayli to Upper Chistibung (Altitude: 2975m/ 9818 ft. Trek: 4/5 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will walk downhill through an open ground and forest that takes you to the pastures of lower Chistibung where you can stay here for a while. Then, continue to walk following the forest, gradually climbing up and passing through several buffalo grazing pastures towards the temporary settlements of herders at Upper Chistibung. Here, you will be staying at local community lodges. Being this trail an off beaten track, here will be very limited lodges even run by the local community or Home stay.


Day 7: Trek from Chistibung to Kopra Ridge (Altitude: 3660m/ 12078 ft. Trek: 3/4 hrs. Meal: BLD)

The motive of entire trek is to reach at Khopra Ridge. Today, you will walk on a steady climbs that carries you above the tree line. Now, you will entered to the area noted for the wild life, keep your eyes open and grasp the opportunity of viewing Himalayan Tahr and a colorful bird Danfe. You should climb steadily with an appropriate rest and time. Just reaching the ridge, you will received the sparkling surrounding including the attraction of Mt. Annapurna South, Mt. Nilgiri, Kali Gandaki valley, and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Spent overnight in Lodge/Home stay.


Day 8: Rest day- excursion to Kaire Lake (Altitude: 4600m/15180 ft. Trek: 9/10 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today will be the most exciting and long walking to the Khayer Lake lies at an altitude 4600 m. It is a sacred lakes for the Hill dwellers practicing Shamanism and those who belongs to Hindu. Especially on the day of Janai Purinima on the month Shrawan (July/August), when the sacred thread are changed by the Brahmin and Kshetris taking a holy bath, a fest is held here. It will be a long walking, hence, could not recommended for every trekkers. For those who like to walk for certain distance, they can go to explore the fantastic landscape of Thanti lies at an altitude 4180 m. This place is a temporary shelter for the Yak Herders and shepherds. They stay here during monsoon season. It is a place where, pilgrims spend overnight while going for worship at Khayer Lake. Spend overnight at Khapra village lodge.


Day 9: Trek from Khopra Ridge to Chitre (Altitude: 2390m/ 7887 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

It is a time to return back following steep downhill. Retrace the trail back to Chistibung and following the trail towards Swanta. Then, descend through the village fields to a small river and take a quick look at the local water mill. From here you will cross the suspension bridge and head upwards to the village of Chittre Stay overnight at Lodge.


Day 10: Trek from Chitre to Ghorepani (Altitude: 2860m/ 9438 ft. Trek: 4/5 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Following the ascending trail, you will reach at the village of Ghorepani where you will enjoy the picturesque views of the Dhaulagiri massif. Stay overnight at Lodge.


Day 11: Excursion to Poonhill, Trek to Tirkhedhunga. (Altitude: Poonhill: 3193m/ 10535 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Wake up early morning and make your journey to Poon Hill. It is a perfect place for sunrise view over the snowcapped mountainous peaks. Walking for an hours in steep uphill really amaze you when you grasp eye-popping view of mountains in the north turning yellowish color step by step by the strike of sun rays over the snowcapped top. Retrace your journey back to lodge for breakfast. Get ready to walk for next journey Tirkhedhunga. The trail passes through beautiful rhododendron forest continuing the trail of Bhurungdi Khola. Rest for a while at Ulleri taking some picturesque views of surrounding, then follow the stone steep steps down hill. Follow the trail of Bhurungdi Khola and crossing a small suspension bridge, you will reach the village of Tirkedunga. Stay overnight at Lodge.


Day 12 Trek from Tikhedunga to Nayapul, drive to Pokhara (Altitude: 823m/2,700ft Trek: 4/5 hrs. Drive: 2 hrs. Meal: BL)

Today, you will continue to walk in a gentle descend trail to the village of Birethanti. It lies on the bank of Modi Khola. Here, you can spend your time for a while then retrace your journey to Nayapul to catch a vehicle to drive back to Pokhara. Explore the streets of Pokhara in the evening, release all your trek exhaustion and enjoy. Spend overnight at local lodge.


Day 13 Drive back to Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Drive: 5-6 hrs. Meal: B/D)

Now, it’s a time to return back to Kathmandu. You can either fly or drive back to Kathmandu. Spend your time as you like. Evening time, we invite you for farewell dinner at authentic restaurant. You can share your experience, feedback us and give us a chance to make your evening a wonderful time. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 14: Final Departure from Kathmandu

Group Size:
For group, we normally run with minimum 2 person to maximum 10 in our published group departure program. However, there is no barrier for a private trip. We can run a trip for single person and even more than 10 in a group. Normally for a group, we provide 1 main guide, 1 assistance guide along with 1 porter for every 2 trekkers. Moreover, for every additional 2 trekkers, 1 more assistance and a porter will be provided making a team combination as follows:

4-6 PAX: 1 guide, 1 assistance guide and 3 porter
7-10 PAX: 1 guide, 2 assistance guide and 4/5 Porter

Guide and Trip Safety

Once, you confirm your trip, it is our responsibility to make your trip wonderful without creating any difficulties. Hence, we have prepared our itinerary in such a way that it will properly acclimatize you. Also, we request you in advance to have regular exercises and make habits to walk in a daily basis. Similarly, during trek, you will be fully guided by our professional trekking guides and supporting team. They are properly trained in regards to safety and first aid. Even, we have every set up in case of emergency such as high altitude medicine and Gammow Bag (High altitude Chamber bag). Please note High altitude Chamber Bag is used to provide heat in your body and it is available on certain cost. Moreover, to let you familiar with altitude, you are suggested to walk slow and steady and ensure for proper acclimatization.

For trekking, we provide local experienced guide speaking fluent English and familiar with the local routes, landscape, flora, fauna as well as culture, and tradition of certain areas and let you feel comfortable. We do not encourage for child labor, hence, our porter will be above 16 years that are living in the Himalayas of Nepal; as well as carries only 20-22 kg weight per porter. Normally, the guide and support teams are selected with proper analyzing of their experience, leadership skills and personal aptitude. Our guides are well familiar with different societies of all caste and customs along the trail and share the insight culture with you that are not even noted in guide book.

To make our staffs more fluent and experienced, we consistently provide trainings. They have been participating in special training programs like Trekking guide training, Rock climbing, Ice climbing, Intensive Wilderness first Aid and many more that has been certified and approved by Nepal Government.

Travel Insurance
While travelling to Nepal, you are requested to have a travel insurance that should cover any comprehensive expenses possible to acquire due to medical issues or accidents. Especially, your travel insurance must protect air ambulance, treatment charges, rescue and evacuation, product cancellation and refundable charges, flight delay and cancellations. We suggest you to bring you travel insurance certificate or send us scan copy and required to issue from your home land and we do not arrange or sell insurance.

Travelling in the Himalayas is full of adventurous; hence it is wise to choose a proper insurance policy. While choosing your insurance policy, make sure that it will protect all such unforeseen expenses. Your insurer should be well familiar with our itinerary that you have booked and must have agreed to cover all activities being undertaken during trip. Meantime, it is not compulsory that our all the assigned trip are facilities with Heli-rescue. You will not require heli rescue insurance for Tibet Tour as it is not possible to provide such facility.

Vaccination
It is better to follow the precaution given by World Health Organization and other international health related institutions that recommend having vaccines before travelling Nepal to prevent from certain fatal illness. If possible, we suggest you to bring your medical certificate however, it is not required to show but for safety. The recommended vaccines are polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, typhoid, yellow fever, hepatitis A/B, Influenza (Flu), Japanese encephalitis, and Tuberculosis. Meantime, it is better to consult your professional doctor about your travel and he might recommend you properly. You can also take suggestion of local travelers who have travelled Nepal before and know more about the required precautions. Please note that the protection that can be gained from vaccines varies from 50% to almost 100%. So remember that even if you have taken a vaccine you might still get the disease, although you will have greatly reduced your chances of getting ill.

High Altitude Sickness
At the higher altitude, you will feel a decrease in availability of oxygen. If a person walk in the high altitude particularly climbs up too quickly, he might suffer from High altitude sickness. Hence, proper rest is required at that altitude. You can cure at right time knowing certain symptoms of Altitude Sickness. Common symptoms are headache, loss of appetite, tiredness and nausea, vomiting, dizziness and difficulty in sleeping. The best remedies that local belief and take is taking garlic, or ginger in mouth. Eat dry food and take liquid as much as possible. We recommend Diamox if there is no any options.

Also, we provide experienced guide and staffs in dealing with the effects of higher altitudes. As they are natives of Nepal, they easily acclimatize and therefore can care for their clients. They are equipped with necessary medical supplies and will assist with basic first aid treatment. We design our tours to ensure clients are ready for high altitude, and arrange alternative itineraries for those at risk.

While travelling to a destination, there might occurs a series of questions, such as what should I bring, level of fitness, insurance, security, right time, visa procedure etc. Hence, to solve with such queries, here is prepared list with feasible answers.

Trekking in Nepal is walking in the Himalayas, on mostly level ground with a few sections of steep hillsides- ups and down. It is not so difficult nor too easy to trek Everest Base camp. Your health and physical fitness is vital. Hence, if you can walk 5 miles a day and in a good aerobic shape, you will definitely complete the trek. And you can trek smoothly if you are used to with some walking habits and even join some gym, aerobics. Also, it is better to build a habits of hiking for 3 to 6 hours once a week and use stairs ups and down to make your knees strong and comfortable to walk in the Rocky Mountains. If you are in a good shape, you can enjoy the overall experience.

Nepal is safe for travelling to anybody who wish to spend their holidays with fun and excitements. If you are travelling solo, involved with authorized company and make sure that you should be guided by licensed holder local guides. As you go up, the accommodation will be basic but neat and clean beds with comfortable mattress. Beds are quite small and shared bathroom (some lodges also offer attached bathroom). There is chimney heater in the dining hall where tables are set around to sit nearby heater. We provide clean and comfortable room with attached bathroom at the places where it is available. For meals, you will be served sufficient hygienic food. Our service includes a full board meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Tea/Coffee) based on lodge menu. Normally, for breakfast; porridge, cereals, toast or chapattis, omelets and a range of hot drinks are served. Likewise for Lunch and Dinner; you can taste some Nepalese food (esp. rice, lentils and curry), local food, Indian food, Italian Spaghetti, noodles, potatoes, even Pizza in some areas. It is obvious that you will receive fresh and organic food in the Himalayas of Nepal. Your breakfast and dinner will be served in lodge where you stay and lunch on the way during trek.

For trekking in Nepal, you will be guided by locally trained licensed holder trekking guide who are involved in trekking for many years and used to with the trail, local culture and surrounding. They speak good English and make you feel comfortable while trekking.

While trekking in high altitude, headache and diarrhea is common sickness and our guide will take some prescribed medicine. But for the serious illness and other factor, they are not authorized to take the medicine. But help to take you to the hospital or evacuated back to Kathmandu. Also, you can bring Diamox or other medicine after consulting with your doctor or general physician.

For trekking in Nepal, usually two season are considered best (i.e. Spring: March, April, May and Autumn: September, October, November). During spring time, temperature is mildly warm in low lands while moderate in higher altitudes with plenty of opportunities to have astonishing views of the mountains and landscape. At this time, the blossom flowers especially national flower of Nepal – rhododendron decorate the ascending altitudes with its generous color and beauty. Even the High altitude lodges get opened and get occupied with the mountain lovers. Autumn (September, October and November): This time is considered to be the best tourist season in Nepal with the end of summer and the winter to set in. The weather is highly pleasant so are the mountain views. The trekking routes get beautified with the presence of trekkers and expedition groups. Meantime, most of the festivals of Nepalese societies are enthusiastically celebrated at this time.

For Trek, we will provide you a Hiking Nepal T-shirt, down jacket and sleeping bag and duffel bag. Any other clothing, you should bring yourself. We can provide you the list of clothing and gear.

On your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport, our office representative and a driver will be waiting you outside of terminal gate displaying placard mentioning your name with Hiking Nepal. They will escort you to the Hotel and help you in Check-In at Hotel. Considering your feasible time, we will meet at Hotel or at our office for short briefing about the trip.
