Trip Notes / Guideline on Itinerary: Hiking Nepal is operating responsible trekking in Langtang region after earthquake and contributes 5% gross sales of its trekking business for reconstruction of Langtang. So, it will be an opportunity for all of you to join our Langtang trekking to be participated in our rebuild program.

Langtang Valley trek is the closest approach to get to the massive snowcapped mountains, rich heritage and Himalayan lifestyle.

Langtang Valley is the closest Himalayan region from Kathmandu valley. A few hours’ drive from Kathmandu will takes you to the beautiful Langtang valley, where you will see the tranquil remote landscape, people following Himalayan Buddhism with living style and culture similar to Tibet. The area is naturally as well as culturally outstanding, though becomes one of the popular destination nearby Kathmandu. This trek will offer a varieties of Rhododendron, huge Bamboo forest, beautiful landscape, snowcapped mountains range and rich wild life including Red Pandas. 

The Langtang Valley Trek starts with a drive to Syabru Besi. Following local trail upstream Bhote Koshi River through the ethnic Tamang villages, lush green forest and the wide spread Langtang valley with a view of splendid mountains from all sides. This trek takes you to a maximum height of 3870 m at Kyanjin that gives you an options to hike Kyangjin Ri (4700 m); Tsergo Ri (4984 m); Lirung Glacier walk and Langshisa Kharka, then you will be retrace back down to Dhunche for a drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 01 Arrive Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Dinner)

On your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport, one of our representative will pick up you and escort you to the hotel as well as help you to check-in at hotel. After your refreshment, you will be briefed about the next day trip. In the evening, we, the Hiking Nepal will offer you a welcome dinner introducing Nepalese cuisine and culture.


Day 02 Cultural tour of Kathmandu City UNESCO Heritage Sites (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Breakfast)

After your delightful breakfast, you will be introduced with guide and takes you to UNESCO Heritages sites of the valley where you will observe living heritage of Medieval Nepal - Witness the biggest Hindu temple of Nepal, Pashupatinath and capture the sacred moments of Hindu death ritual at Aryaghat in Pashupatinath. Stroll the lively streets of Kathmandu Old Market Asan to Kathmandu Durbar Square and visit the home of The Living Goddess Kumari, Nepalese style of Architecture as well as astonishing wooden carving. A short drive from Kathmandu Durbar Square will take you to a hill top stupa called as “Swyambhu” meaning “self -emerge” and belief that the hill emerged impulsively from the great lake that once covered Kathmandu valley. Also famous as a Monkey Temple.


Day 03 Drive to Syabrubesi (Altitude: 1,420m/4,658ft Drive: 8/9 hrs. Meal: BLD)

After Breakfast, re-check your baggage and get ready for a long drive to Syabrubesi. Taking a turning to the northern highway to the Trishuli River valley, enjoy the picturesque landscape, mountain scenery and hamlets. Also, catch the magnificent view of Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu and Mt. Kerung of Tibet as well. You will stop at Syabrubesi for your overnight stay at local lodge.


Day 04 Trek Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (Altitude: 2340m/7,675ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Begins trek from Syabrubesi with gently walk for a while, then ascend the trail through terraced field and the forest of oaks, maple, alder and bamboo. On your way, you might see some yellow-throated martin, wild boar, Himalayan black bear and red panda as well as varieties of Birds. Crossing some streams and a bridge, you will walk along the small Tea-shops. Then, ascending steeply along the trail, cross a steel suspension bridge and walk along the Langtang River, you will pass through the Bamboo forest that takes you to the Lama Hotel where you will spend your overnight.


Day 05 Lama Hotel to Langtang village (Altitude: 3,480m/11,415ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will walk on an ascending trail that get slightly steeper as you hike up and the trail continues along the dense forest. Cross a log bridge and further climbing steeply up, you will reach at Ghoratabela. Here, you can see several lodges, and a national park check post. Further the trails leads you to the wide valley, even see water driven mills, a yak pastures as well as the prayer wheels, mani walls that represent the Himalayan culture. Passing a stream, you will reach at a beautiful Langtang Village settled by the Tamang and Sherpas. Spend overnight at local lodge.


Day 06 Langtang village to Kyanjing Gompa (Altitude: 3,870m/12,697ft. Trek: 3-4 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will have a gentle walk towards Kyanjing Gompa. You will walk through the rich yak pastures and interesting traditional villages of Mumdu to Singdun. Passing stone mani wall and a wooden cantilever bridge, you will reach at last village of Langtang- the Kyanjing Gompa. Here, you can explore the monastery, Yak cheese factory and beautiful locals. The village is even more beautified with a background view of Mt. Langtang Lirung and Mt. Ganchempo. Spend overnight at local lodge.


Day 07 Exploring day at Kyanjin Gompa (Altitude: 3,870m/12,697ft. Trek: 3-4 hrs. Meal: BLD)

You have a free time to take proper rest and for self-exploration around Langtang. It is a time for better and closer view Mt. Lirung.  You have an option either to climb Tsergo Ri (4984 m) or Kyanjing-Ri (4700 m); even go for glacier walk or Langshisa Kharka depending on your fitness and interest. The amazing view of snowcapped mountains spreading right next to you and walking up the moraine viewing spectacular mountain ridges and undulating glaciers will be overwhelming.


Day 08 Kyanjin Gumpa to Lama Hotel (Altitude: 2340m/7,675ft. Trek: 6-7 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will retrace your journey back to Lama Hotel following the Langtang Khola on a downhill trail. You will have a pleasant walk along the rhododendron forest to Lama Hotel where you will spend your overnight at local lodge.


Day 09 Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru Village (Altitude: 1,900m/6,232ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

After breakfast, take downhill route to the Thulo Syabru. With an easy walk through green forest of Bamboo and Rhododendron, you can see local wild boar, other animals and pleasing birds; passes streams and very few tea shops. En-route, you can have marvelous and close-up view of Ganesh Himal. A steep uphill walk at the end will takes you to Thulo Syabru. Here, you will be accommodated in a local lodge for overnight stay.


Day 10 Thulo Syabru to Dhunche (Altitude: 1650m/5,412ft. Trek: 4-5 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today will be your last day in the Langtang. It will be a quite pleasant walk through the forested path passing some Tamang villages, takes you to Dhunche. It is a headquarters of Rasuwa district, take your time to explore the surrounding. Spend overnight at local lodge.


Day 11 Drive back to Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: B/D)

After breakfast, catch a bus to drive back to Kathmandu. On your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be escorted to the Hotel. Take your time to refresh yourself with hot shower and rest. In the evening, we, Hiking Nepal, will offer you a farewell dinner at authentic restaurant. You can share your experience, feedback us and give us a chance to make your evening a wonderful time. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 12 Departure from Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Breakfast)

It is a last day with us. Our supporting team will takes you to airport for your final departure. We hope to see you again. Additionally, if you have plan of any adjoining trip, you can let us to organize.

We have prepared the trip departure dates in small groups departure for group fun and enjoyment trekking. Our group size start from 2 peoples (Even for solo travelers, we organize single trip on supplement cost of US$- 200 additional) and maximum group size will be 8-10 travelers. But in general, our every date will have small groups of 4- 6 peoples, which is good group size for safe and flexible & comfortable trekking. Group Size:
For group, we normally run with minimum 2 person to maximum 10 in our published group departure program. However, there is no barrier for a private trip. We can run a trip for single person and even more than 10 in a group. Normally for a group, we provide 1 main guide, 1 assistance guide along with 1 porter for every 2 trekkers. Moreover, for every additional 2 trekkers, 1 more assistance and a porter will be provided making a team combination as follows:

Minimum to 2 PAX: 1 Guide and 1 porter
4-6 PAX: 1 guide, 1 assistance guide and 3 porter
7-10 PAX: 1 guide, 2 assistance guide and 4/5 Porter

Guide and Trip Safety

Once, you confirm your trip, it is our responsibility to make your trip wonderful without creating any difficulties. Hence, we have prepared our itinerary in such a way that it will properly acclimatize you. Also, we request you in advance to have regular exercises and make habits to walk in a daily basis. Similarly, during trek, you will be fully guided by our professional trekking guides and supporting team. They are properly trained in regards to safety and first aid. Even, we have every set up in case of emergency such as high altitude medicine and Gammow Bag (High altitude Chamber bag). Please note High altitude Chamber Bag is used to provide heat in your body and it is available on certain cost. Moreover, to let you familiar with altitude, you are suggested to walk slow and steady and ensure for proper acclimatization.

For trekking, we provide local experienced guide speaking fluent English and familiar with the local routes, landscape, flora, fauna as well as culture, and tradition of certain areas and let you feel comfortable. We do not encourage for child labor, hence, our porter will be above 16 years that are living in the Himalayas of Nepal; as well as carries only 20-22 kg weight per porter. Normally, the guide and support teams are selected with proper analyzing of their experience, leadership skills and personal aptitude. Our guides are well familiar with different societies of all caste and customs along the trail and share the insight culture with you that are not even noted in guide book.

To make our staffs more fluent and experienced, we consistently provide trainings. They have been participating in special training programs like Trekking guide training, Rock climbing, Ice climbing, Intensive Wilderness first Aid and many more that has been certified and approved by Nepal Government.

Travel Insurance
While travelling to Nepal, you are requested to have a travel insurance that should cover any comprehensive expenses possible to acquire due to medical issues or accidents. Especially, your travel insurance must protect air ambulance, treatment charges, rescue and evacuation, product cancellation and refundable charges, flight delay and cancellations. We suggest you to bring you travel insurance certificate or send us scan copy and required to issue from your home land and we do not arrange or sell insurance.

Travelling in the Himalayas is full of adventurous; hence it is wise to choose a proper insurance policy. While choosing your insurance policy, make sure that it will protect all such unforeseen expenses. Your insurer should be well familiar with our itinerary that you have booked and must have agreed to cover all activities being undertaken during trip. Meantime, it is not compulsory that our all the assigned trip are facilities with Heli-rescue. You will not require heli rescue insurance for Tibet Tour as it is not possible to provide such facility.

Vaccination
It is better to follow the precaution given by World Health Organization and other international health related institutions that recommend having vaccines before travelling Nepal to prevent from certain fatal illness. If possible, we suggest you to bring your medical certificate however, it is not required to show but for safety. The recommended vaccines are polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, typhoid, yellow fever, hepatitis A/B, Influenza (Flu), Japanese encephalitis, and Tuberculosis. Meantime, it is better to consult your professional doctor about your travel and he might recommend you properly. You can also take suggestion of local travelers who have travelled Nepal before and know more about the required precautions. Please note that the protection that can be gained from vaccines varies from 50% to almost 100%. So remember that even if you have taken a vaccine you might still get the disease, although you will have greatly reduced your chances of getting ill.

High Altitude Sickness
At the higher altitude, you will feel a decrease in availability of oxygen. If a person walk in the high altitude particularly climbs up too quickly, he might suffer from High altitude sickness. Hence, proper rest is required at that altitude. You can cure at right time knowing certain symptoms of Altitude Sickness. Common symptoms are headache, loss of appetite, tiredness and nausea, vomiting, dizziness and difficulty in sleeping. The best remedies that local belief and take is taking garlic, or ginger in mouth. Eat dry food and take liquid as much as possible. We recommend Diamox if there is no any options.

Also, we provide experienced guide and staffs in dealing with the effects of higher altitudes. As they are natives of Nepal, they easily acclimatize and therefore can care for their clients. They are equipped with necessary medical supplies and will assist with basic first aid treatment. We design our tours to ensure clients are ready for high altitude, and arrange alternative itineraries for those at risk.
