Khopra Danda is relatively a new route and rarely trodden trail offering rich culture and enchanting views of Mt. Annapurna I, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Dhaulagiri and other snowcapped mountains of the region. It is a part of Annapurna Conservation Area. It is a hill station located at the elevation of 3660m offering the mind blowing views of the Himalayan range. It is also a stopover point to reach a famous pilgrimage site Khayer Lake. Pilgrims mostly visit this lake during Janai Purnima with a belief that their wishes will come true if they visit the Lake. There are other beautiful lakes in the area like Kalibhara, Gosainbhara and Kelteko Tal which are located in about 1-2 hrs’ trekking distance away from Khayer Lake. During Khopra Danda trek, the trail passes through less frequented wooded area that increases your chance of spotting animals on the way. Some of the animals that can be seen in the area are sloth bear, Himalayan goat, leopard, danfe, munal, pheasant, crow, red fox, mountain mouse etc. While you approach Khopra Danda, you will be welcomed by a path adorned with wildflowers. It is truly a piece of heaven on earth. The trek to Khopra Danda is off the beaten trip yet you can find small teahouses all along the trail. However, at Khopra Danda, there is only one lodge which was established 12 years ago. This proves that the destination is still in its raw state and not influenced by commercial traveling. Due to its remoteness, you will not have any network service in Khopra Danda. The road transport has not reached till Khopra Danda, so all the items found there are mostly local. Dal Bhat and Tibetan bread are the most recommended meals which are made up of fresh and locally grown ingredients. Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are considered as the best time to travel to Khopra Danda. The temperature is moderate and the weather is clear during these times allowing you to get the perfect and clear panoramic views of the Himalayan range, walk on meadow of lush green grass and flowers and experience the nature at its best. As Khopra Danda is located inside the Annapurna Conservation Area, so you also need to get ACAP permit from Nepal Tourism Board Office.
